Ghost Lot and Damu Karu

Ghost Lot and Damu Karu share the bill at Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Sat., Feb. 18. The show starts at 7 PM cover is $10.

Ghost Lot is a trio from Hamden, CT. The band is comprised of veterans of the New Haven area music scene: Drummer, Dave Schmidt (The Beer Scouts USA, Hygiene Wilder, Smooth Medusa, Goat Herder); guitar and vocals, John Meah (The Hulls, Puckish, Sex and Death USA, The Hymans); and Mike Cooper, bass and vocals (The Defcon Five, Model Chaser, Deadbeat Dads, The Hymans).

Formed in late 2019, with prolonged breaks during the pandemic, Ghost Lot’s sound is heavily influenced by power pop, classic punk, post punk, psych, etc.

The group came together when the three members, already friends, realized too many life situations in common to not start a band. One of their biggest similarities is settling down with their families in Hamden, not far from each other. In fact, Hamden isn’t just a geographical convenience for the three bandmates, but the band’s name is an homage to a piece of beloved Hamden history: the iconic, former Hamden Plaza Ghost Parking Lot public art installation.

You can find two singles, released by the band in 2022, everywhere music is streamed, with more to come in the very near future.

Started in 2019, Damu Karu is heavy 90s rock with breathy vocals from new haven, CT (Think Hum, my bloody valentine, and Smashing Pumpkins). Phil (Atrina, Bloarzeyd) and Kelly (Atrina, Snake Oil) form the rhythm section while Carl (SadNES) sings and plays guitar.
