Brian Larney, Erik Rabasca

The Brian Larney Band plays Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Sat., Mar. 18. The show starts at 7 PM and the Brian Larney Band shares the bill with New York-based singer-songwriter Erik Rabasca. The cover is $10.

Haunted by hooks and good old-fashioned songcraft, Brian Larney is an eclectic, non-stop music-maker. The Connecticut native splits his time performing as a solo acoustic act and as the front-man of The Brian Larney Band. He's an alternative folk-rock singer-songwriter with an honest and thoughtful style that has been described as “quirky, earnest, and vulnerable.” His songs are organic spoonfuls of classic pop and folk, naturally sweet, non-GMO, without the sugar crash; his style hearkens back to the days of Simon and Garfunkel, the Beatles, and maybe a bit of Partridge Family. His sound is as influenced by pop songs of the early to mid-twentieth century as it is by the contemporary artists he’s often compared to.

Larney grew up in the Northeast, obsessed with well-crafted songs and the art of vocal harmony. “We didn't have a piano, so I would sneak into my high school choir room before class just to pick out songs and work on harmonies." Through his varied tastes as a listener and touring with power pop, post-punk, and Americana groups, he gradually essentialized his songwriting style. He's shared the stage with Cheap Trick, Aimee Mann and Kingsley Flood, among others. Larney has released several albums and singles on his independent label, Nunya Records and has had his songs placed in movies, television and commercials. Learn more: https://www.brianlarney.com/
