Speaker Series: Fiona Bradford of New Haven Reads

BVFCC is proud to present a new series about which we’re super excited. Have you ever noticed how many really cool and interesting people seem to live in these parts? Well we thought it would be a great idea to get them to come on over to Best Video Film & Cultural Center and talk about what they do, why they do it, how they got into it and then let us pepper them with lots of questions.

First up is Fiona Bradford, Development and Communications Director at New Haven Reads. Fiona will be speaking to us on The Science of Reading: What We’ve Learned about Teaching Kids to Read at New Haven Reads. Fiona earned a Master of Arts degree in Nonprofit Organizations from the University of Georgia and a Postgraduate Certificate in Economics from the University of London. In addition to her experience in development, Fiona has experience in project management, planning, and a passion for helping nonprofit organizations. She formerly worked in Yale’s Office of Development and for various multinationals including Diageo and Tate & Lyle. She joined New Haven Reads in May 2011.

About New Haven Reads: Founded to share the joy and power of reading, New Haven Reads partners with the community to provide free one-on-one tutoring, educational family support, and a book bank to empower aspiring readers to master the literacy skills needed to thrive in school and life.
