Sgt. Scagnetti/Corpse Flower - Ska-Punk

Sgt. Scagnetti and Corpse Flower share the bill at Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Fri., Feb. 9. The show starts at 7 PM and the cover is $10.

Sgt. Scag (aka Sgt. Scagnetti) has been a fixture on the Northeast ska/punk scene since the late 1990’s. Songs about dysfunctional parenting and revenge fantasies developed into teen center anthems. After an 18-year break, the band is BACK and actively releasing new material about Teeth, Burger King and illegal fireworks salesmen. They will play the old stuff too. Don’t worry.

“At Least More Than Half-Way Dead” is the first proper full-length release from Sgt. Scag since 1999. 11 Tracks of new material written since 2018 when the band reformed to play Supernova International Ska Festival. They simply never talked about stopping. It hasn’t come up. Released in September 2023 on Ska Punk International Records, “At Least More Than Half-Way Dead” is the record your parents make post mid-life crisis. When they realize the sports car didn’t fix their marriage and get really into hiking. A band that always struggled letting people help them, growing smarter and accepting some help.

Corpse Flower is a femme punk band based in New Haven, CT. Grace Yukich is on lead vocals and guitar, Sarah Dunn on bass, and Kelly Kancyr on drums. Their music expresses traditional punk anger sometimes through humor and whimsy, other times through their enemies' tears.
