The singer-songwriters Meggie Czepiel and Sean O'Reilly share the bill at Best Video Film & Cultural Center Fri., Aug. 18. The show starts at 7 PM and the cover is $10.

Equal parts playful and earnest, Meggie writes songs that sound like conversations with your best friend. Born to two English teachers, she conveys often-overlooked stories – such as platonic breakups and childhood fears – with the gravity of romance and heartbreak. Meggie’s warm personality shines through in her thoughtful lyrics and lilting melodies, often serious but never lacking a sense of humor. Musical influences such as Taylor Swift, Lucy Dacus, Maisie Peters and Colbie Caillat can be heard in the way Meggie welcomes acoustic roots into a fuller, quirkier soundscape.

Baroque instruments adorn arrangements of songs rooted in American folk songwriting that frames a distinctly modern turns of phrasing and vocal delivery. Perhaps even more modern, O'Reilly has programmed a regularly reoccurring livestream with multiple camera angles and sound to rival a late night TV network production.
