The improvisational collective Light Upon Blight, led by Jeff Cedrone and frequent collaborator Peter Riccio will be performing their 8th annual Halloween live score on Fri., Oct. 27, at Best Video Film & Cultural Center. The show starts at 8 PM and the cover is $10. This year's film is EYES WITHOUT A FACE.
Always led by musician Jeff Cedrone (guitar and analog synthesizer), this iteration of Light Upon Blight also features John C. Miller (synthesizer), Peter Riccio (drums), and Vance Provey (trumpet).
In a tradition of horror combining the visceral, the philosophical, and the psychological, Georges Franju’s (one of the great figures of French cinema, 1912-1987) "Eyes Without A Face" is a work of poetic realism and surrealism. The film is open to endless interpretations and full of unforgettable images, thus the perfect vehicle for a Light Upon Blight Halloween-themed live score.
From the Criterion Channel description:
"Eyes Without a Face," directed by the supremely talented Georges Franju, is rare in horror cinema for its odd mixture of the ghastly and the lyrical, and it has been a major influence on the genre in the decades since its release. There are images here—of terror, of gore, of inexplicable beauty—that once seen are never forgotten.
Costume wearing is welcomed, even encouraged.
