Halloween Screening: VALERIE & HER WEEK OF WONDERS w/Live Score by Light Upon Blight

The improvisational collective Light Upon Blight, led by Jeff Cedrone and frequent collaborator Peter Riccio will be performing their 7th annual Halloween live score on Saturday, October 29th at Best Video Film & Cultural Center. This year’s film is 1970’s, Czech New Wave, surrealist, horror Valerie and Her Week of Wonders.
“A girl on the verge of womanhood finds herself in a sensual fantasyland of vampires, witchcraft, and other threats in this eerie and mystical movie daydream. Valerie and Her Week of Wonders serves up an endlessly looping, nonlinear fairy tale, set in a quasi-medieval landscape. Ravishingly shot, enchantingly scored, and spilling over with surreal fancies, this enticing phantasmagoria from director Jaromil Jireš is among the most beautiful oddities of the Czechoslovak New Wave.”
Light Upon Blight will be: Richard Brown - alto sax, Jeff Cedrone - guitar, keyboards, John C. Miller - synths, Vance Provey - trumpet, and Peter Riccio - drums
As this is an indoor, masks are strongly encouraged. The cove charge is $10.
