FauxMenco are Catherine Capozzi and Rafi Sofer, translating their loud and adventurous experimental electric guitar worlds to nylon string guitars. Drawing from rock, metal, classical, flamenco, surf, manouche, and the ambience of time & space, FauxMenco loves to explore—striving to create exciting guitar dreamscapes that are propulsive and timeless. ”The legacies of Paco De Lucia and Jimi Hendrix lead to FauxMenco’s take on relaxed mayhem.”
Selected by Brian May to win his famed “Red Special” electric guitar, Catherine is a genre bending and award winning film composer and producer. Israeli-born Rafi Sofer is a sound and visual artist—head engineer at Boston’s legendary Q Division Studios by day, street and macro photographer by night.
Joey Wit, once a professional baseball player, found his true calling in music after a career cut short by concussions. Drawing inspiration from classic rock legends like the Beatles and Stones, he emerged as a tattooed indie rock singer whose sound blends contemporary alternative influences like Wilco and Radiohead with the progressive touches of Yes and Pink Floyd.
His debut record, "Eastern Standard," featuring the single "Reconsider," received significant radio play and was praised for its dynamic storytelling. Wit's sophomore LP, "Rose Gold," released in September, via the Boston based <H1 MASSIVE> record label, featuring the first single "Leave It to Me," which came in at #29 on the Radio Indie Alliance Charts, with contributions from Matt Starr (drums-Ace Frehley/Mr.Big) and 2015 Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Ricky Byrd (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts) on lead guitar. He wrapped up 2024 with a fall tour through the UK, Ireland, and Iceland, sharing the stage with notable artists like Joel Hoekstra and Brandon Gibbs.
