Audio Jane plays Best Video Film & Cultural Center Sat., Dec. 17. The show starts at 7 PM with a set by Private Language. The cover is $10.
Audio Jane is a female-fronted atmospheric rock band from Connecticut that has been compared to Patti Smith, Cat Power, and the Cranberries. Most recently, the songs “Baby I Know” and “Starry Eyes” were featured in the Netflix series The Midnight Club, and the band has placed tracks on the CW show Nancy Drew, as well as the motion picture The Never List. They also performed on NPR’s "Where we Live.” Several of the band’s releases have landed on critic’s end-of-year lists, with The Huffington Post concluding "Audio Jane is just damn good."
The band showcases singer-songwriter Sarah Pech’s serenely beautiful vocals and Mike Goldberg’s atmospheric lead guitar. Mike Ciunci’s natural and intuitive drums and Nate Harris’ dynamic, melodic basslines and sweet harmonies round out the group’s unique sound.
In 2021, Harris and Pech joined songwriting forces to co-write the band's next release. The band can be seen at festivals, breweries, and music venues around New England.
It was a cold day in hell. The year was 2017 or 2016 and it was cold in Bridgeport, CT, too. There, in the basement laundry room of an apartment building, Private Language began. Residents of the building would often come down the stairs (to do laundry) and be like ‘you guys sound good!’ and occasionally even stick around until the end of whatever tune they were working on.
Private Language now practices in a rehearsal space in Hartford, CT. People with dirty laundry don’t stop by anymore, so sometimes they play shows. Sometimes people are at the shows and will stick around for a song or a few songs and afterwards be like ‘you guys sounded good!’
That’s pretty much what Private Language is all about - good sounds and clean laundry.
Masks are strongly recommended.
