Alexander plays Best Video Film & Cultural Center on Sat., Feb. 4. The show starts at 7 PM and the cover is $10. Alexander will play two sets, one consisting of original songs on steel string acoustic guitar and the second of the classical repertoire on the nylon string guitar. Alexander is the solo moniker of New Haven, CT based guitarist David Shapiro. His instrumental guitar music draws from a wide range of traditions including folk, blues, country, and classical. As Alexander, he has toured extensively across the U.S. and internationally. He has shared bills with Mdou Moctar, Loren Connors, Susan Alcorn, Daniel Bachman, Glenn Jones, and many more. His debut self-titled LP was praised by Paste magazine and Dusted magazine. His follow up LP was released on C/Site Recordings. In addition to performing as Alexander, Shapiro accompanies underground folk legend Kath Bloom. He also plays in a wide range of bands ranging from heavy psychedelic rock music to all improvised experimental sounds.
