Hup and Away is a new duo project by Damien Connolly and David Sasso. They play primarily Irish traditional instrumental music on button accordion, fiddle, tenor banjo, and cittern, including original tunes by Damien and David. Their repertoire reflects a love for the music of related traditional folk genres. Hup!

Damien Connolly is an all-Ireland button accordion champion originally from County Clare Ireland. Over the last 20 years he has lived in Connecticut and has taught workshops at various festivals, including the Catskills Irish Arts Week and The Swannanoa Gathering. In 2014 he appeared with Sting as a back-up musician at the Tony awards. Damien is the author of the Irish Accordion Tutor, available on amazon.com, and has three albums available on bandcamp.com.

David Sasso is a composer and multi-instrumentalist focusing on fretted instruments in the mandolin and related instrument families. He can be found accompanying Irish sessions around Connecticut. He has released four albums with various bluegrass and folk/Americana projects, including Five ‘n Change, Kat Wallace and David Sasso, and his own bluegrass rendition of the Friday night Jewish liturgy.
